Introduction of Factor

Guys, here i am back again with a different topic called Factors. We will find it more interesting as we learn more on this. Lets learn what factor means and look at some examples which shows us how to solve some problems on factorization.

Introduction of Factor:- By multiplying two or more numbers we get a number. Those numbers which are multiplied together is called factors of a final number. Every number except 1 can be expressed as a product of two or more numbers. Eg:- Number 15 can be divided into two factors i.e. 3 and 5.

For example 24 is the product of 12 and 2 which is called as its factors. 8 and 3 are also called the factors of 24. Similarly 2, 4 and 6 are also the factors of 24. Every factor of a number divides the number completely with zero as its remainder.

Look for these examples of factorization below.

a) 24/12=2
b) 24/8=3
c) 24/6=4
d) 24/1=24 (Do you notice in each case we find the remainder to be zero)

Common factor:- A number which is a factor of two or more numbers is called a common factor of these numbers. e.g., 4 is a common factor of 16 and 20.

Do you know what prime factor is? We will learn that in my next post. It will be as useful as this one is. Let me know your comment on this and if you have some topic to discuss on let me know and i will help you out with it.
